Co-Design & VR/AR Hub

Immersive technologies for meaningful citizen engagement.

The transition to climate neutrality cannot happen without the people. The Co-Design & VR Hub bridges the gap between complex technical planning and citizen experience. Led by IAAC and ACT, with advanced visualization tools from ICCS and STAM, this suite combines physical engagement workshops with cutting-edge digital technologies.

It features an AR/VR Modeler that allows residents to “walk through” future versions of their neighborhood using Virtual Reality headsets or tablets, making abstract architectural plans concrete and understandable. Complementing this, gamified mobile apps enable citizens to crowdsource data, vote on design options, and validate scenarios, ensuring that renovation plans are co-created, inclusive, and socially accepted.
